How Teamsters Local Union No. 31 collects, uses, protects, and discloses personal information.
Effective August 1, 2026
Teamsters Local Union No. 31 (“Local 31,” “we,” “us”) represents members throughout British Columbia and the Yukon Territory. We collect and use personal information to represent our members, administer the union, and meet our legal obligations. This policy explains what we collect, why we collect it, and the choices available to you.
Local 31 follows the requirements of the British Columbia Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA) and, where applicable, the federal Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA).
We do not sell personal information. We disclose it only where necessary to represent you or to meet a legal requirement — for example, to your employer in the course of a grievance, to a benefit or pension plan administrator, to arbitrators or the Labour Relations Board, to legal counsel retained by the Local, to affiliated Teamsters bodies where required by our governing documents, or where disclosure is required or permitted by law.
Access to member records is restricted to Local 31 officers, Business Representatives, and staff who need the information to do their work. Records are held in secured systems and offices, and retained only as long as required for the purpose collected or as required by law. Service providers who handle information on our behalf are required to protect it under equivalent terms.
This site uses a small number of cookies to keep the site functioning and to measure general traffic. You can disable cookies in your browser; some features may not work as intended if you do. Links to external websites, including affiliated Teamsters organizations, plan administrators, and government agencies, are governed by those organizations’ own privacy practices.
You may ask what personal information Local 31 holds about you, how it has been used, and to whom it has been disclosed. You may also ask us to correct information that is inaccurate or incomplete. Requests should be made in writing to the Privacy Officer at the address below. We will respond within the time required by law. In limited cases access may be refused — for example, where information is subject to solicitor-client privilege or would reveal personal information about another member.
Local 31 may update this policy from time to time. The effective date above indicates when it was last revised. Material changes will be posted on this page.
